Job Summary
Responsible for ensuring timely and cost-effective production and delivery of precast projects with primary focus on customer service, cost savings & avoidance, and effective inventory management techniques. Follow company procedures, practices, and policies to contact suppliers, obtain pricing and delivery commitments, place orders, and manage all aspects of product manufacture and delivery including customer service. Exercise judgment and working knowledge of material suppliers and market to execute purchases at a price consistent with quality, quantity and availability.
This position is also responsible for all necessary purchasing activities related to supporting the Stormwater projects such as precast and project specific, non-kanban internal components. This will include using MRP and other system tools to assist in managing Stormwater projects. In addition, this position may also be required to support inventory initiatives at our third party supply partners which may include transactional reviews, inventory confirmation, and in some cases performing physical inventory counts.
Primary Responsibilities
- Precaster assignment responsibility based on Precast Strategy and other factors.
- Forward customers with submittal engineered contract drawings for comments and/or approval.
- At time of drawing submittal, identify customer expectations around requested delivery dates for their order Stormwater products.
- Pre-Order long lead-time items, approved by the SDE, through the "Shell BOM" process pre-approval, pre-fulfillment.
- Receive customer drawings comments and/or approvals and forward onto the appropriate Contech Stormwater Design Engineer for generation of final approval contract and fabrication drawings. Update drawing and ROD milestone dates in Merlin to allow ultimate fulfillment in Merlin by the Customer Solutions Coordinator.
- Directly coordinate production & delivery in assigned territory including order execution, customer service, and communication and delivery coordination. Manage external and internal customer expectations and communications regarding production & delivery.
- Project specific, non-kanban item purchasing.
- Facilitate production and delivery of products:
- Utilize appropriate suppliers based on supply strategy, quality, lead-time, service, and cost.
- Review pricing from standard pricing agreements or obtain project specific quotes as necessary for all externally purchased components.
- Place, expedite, and modify external and internal production and purchase orders as needed, applying best practices and approved supplier strategy, to ensure on-time delivery of products at lowest possible landed cost and minimizing finished goods inventory.
- Facilitate review of all supplier generated shop drawings with suppliers.
- Monitor in progress manufacturing and assembly for estimated and firm completion dates. Communicate expected completion dates to internal and external customers. Coordinate delivery of finished product & timely collection of all required documentation to enable timely invoicing of Contech customers.
- Maintain in a timely fashion all milestone date fields in the order management system.
- Lead weekly cross functional project update PSR calls for product line within your assigned territory, providing verbal production and delivery updates.
- Work with Sourcing Leadership and other sourcing personnel to interview suppliers and help develop reliable sources of supply.
- Manage on-hand inventory of components at supplier locations, including support of on-site physical inventories when necessary.
- Continually monitor and update Project Management software for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor & report supplier Quality Assurance issues and initiate corrective action as necessary.
Required
- 4-year Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of one year of responsible experience in quantity buying and Project Coordination.
- Demonstrated competencies in communication, task organization, and attention to detail and quality.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a dynamic, fluid, and team- oriented environment.
- Demonstrated competencies in computer software (MS Office, CRM Database).
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands and shifting priorities.
- Travel between 5-10%.
