A MSE Design Engineer primarily works in a project management designer role. The individual will develop engineering solutions for specific projects involving geotechnical and structural issues related to Contech’s Vist-A-Wall products. They are responsible for the preparation of engineering drawings and review of project submittals to various members of the Engineering / CAD team for submission to our clients.
In addition, they are to provide technical support to sales personnel, consulting engineers, contractors, precasters and customers in conjunction with the promotion, design, production and installation of Contech’s Vist-A-Wall products. They are to adhere to all company policies and assist in risk management efforts.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides project specific design services – including review of project plans, developing product solutions, preparation of submittal drawings and calculations, providing technical advice.
- Assist the field sales team with integration and acceptance of Contech’s products into site plans.
- Focuses on Contech’s base Vist-A-Wall business, ability to develop the knowledge and experience needed to support the business for these product offerings.
- Performs structural, hydraulic and geotechnical analysis, as necessary, to support these base products.
- Checks work produced by other team members to assure accuracy.
- Handles calls from the field commercial team, outside consultants, precasters and plant personnel to provide competent technical advice and direction.
- Maintains proper engineering standards, policies, best practices and procedures.
- Works with the Product Management team for Vist-A-Wall products and applications.
- Assists in the writing and development of technical papers and product literature needed for the support and the promotion of Contech’s Wall products.
- Has the ability to develop a working knowledge of the Vist-A-Wall base products and governing specifications.
- May travel to job sites to provide technical support, consultation and evaluation related to Contech’s products.
- Provides support to Contech’s risk management efforts through knowledge and understanding of the key design and installation principles associated with Contech’s base products.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required minimum education: 4 year – Bachelor’s Degree, Engineering
- BS Civil Engineering strongly preferred
- EIT Certification preferred
- 1 to 2 years of experience in civil site projects preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized and able to multi-task.
- AutoCAD, MSE-Pro, Civil3D, MathCAD, MSEW, and all Microsoft Office computer skills,
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
- Ability to travel 5% of the time.
