Accounts Receivable Collections Specialist

Job Summary

The Accounts Receivable (AR) Collection Specialist is responsible for collections support, account reconciliation, and resolution of credit issues for our North American locations as well as some international accounts. Candidates must be dependable, be detail-oriented, possess a customer service attitude, and have the ability to multi-task and work within a team environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Collect past due money on customer accounts within established terms in order to maintain the desired level of receivables; contact customers to negotiate alternative payment when full payment cannot be made.
• Recommend lien/bond filing to Credit Manager and refer customers to collections.
• Investigate deductions taken by customer on payments; advise appropriate internal customers on disputes, deductions.
• Ability to effectively communicate with sales and management.
• Develop and maintain necessary documentation to perform job responsibilities.
• Other duties assigned.

Minimum Education

Required minimum education:    2 Year / Associate Degree

Required Major/Focus:   Accounting or Finance

• Combination of post-secondary education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Qualifications

Required:

• 3+ years of prior business-to-business credit and collections experience.
• Knowledge of credit practices.
• Good communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred:

• Experience using JD Edwards.
• Knowledge of Lien/Bond Laws.
